Key Achievements – FY2025

At NDUEC, we are committed to providing transformative educational experiences that enrich lives and encourage personal growth. Our dedication to this mission continues to drive significant progress, and we are eager to share some outstanding accomplishments.

We are thrilled to announce that the Butler Foundation awarded us a $50,000 challenge grant to support our mission of providing educational enrichment and support services to children in Covington and the surrounding communities. This grant served as a powerful call to action: every dollar in new or increased donations made by June 30, 2025, was matched by the Butler Foundation, up to $50,000. “The Butler Foundation invests in educational programs with long-term impact, and we hope this challenge grant will raise awareness and support for NDUEC’s outstanding work,” said Marty Butler, Chair of the Butler Foundation. This generous initiative significantly amplified the impact of community contributions, ensuring that NDUEC continues to prepare young learners for kindergarten and help K-8 students thrive in our River Cities’ public and parochial schools.

One of our major achievements was meeting our students’ transportation needs. We now transport 17 students daily to the center, nearly doubling our previous capacity. Beyond its practical use, the van has become a community engagement tool, participating in two parades that generated positive publicity and valuable networking opportunities. A highlight of this outreach was our participation in the Fort Mitchell 4th of July Parade, which resulted in a new partnership with Pee Wee’s Place. Thanks to this collaboration, Pee Wee’s generously provided dinner for our February Family Support night.

Ensuring the safety and security of our students and staff remains a top priority. This year, we improved security by installing two additional interior cameras to monitor activity on the second floor. We also partnered with CINTAS First Aid & Safety, which installed emergency medical cabinets on each floor, providing quick access to essential first aid supplies. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and Narcan are available for added safety.

We have also made major upgrades to our facilities. Our basement storage room, which holds school supplies, materials, and equipment, also functions as a key pass-through for ADA access to the elevator. To enhance safety and usability, we have refreshed the flooring with a highly durable, non-slip, and wear-resistant epoxy resin.

Furthermore, we welcomed two new members to the NDUEC team: Judy Sanders and Marilyn Dusing. Judy brings extensive experience, having taught Arts in Diversion within the Kenton County Juvenile Court System, led an early childhood art collaboration at James E. Biggs Early Childhood Center, and directed the ArtStop program at the Carnegie Visual & Performing Arts Center. Additionally, she has shared her artistic talents as an instructor at the Baker Hunt Art & Cultural Center.

With over 40 years of teaching experience, Marilyn has left a lasting impact at schools such as Villa Madonna Academy and St. Agnes. In 2019, she expanded her commitment to education by starting an after-school program in Covington’s City Heights. Now, as Enrichment Coordinators at NDUEC, Judy and Marilyn bring their passion and expertise to motivate and empower our students. We are truly thankful to have them with us!

Along with growing our team, we have established new partnerships with organizations like EGC/Messer Construction, Struckhoff & Britt Orthodontics, Lincoln Grant Scholar House, Pee Wee’s Place, and Pickett’s Bike Corner Ministry. These partnerships have strengthened our support network, boosted volunteer involvement, and provided extra resources, underscoring the importance of teamwork and innovation in advancing our mission. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our students and our community!
