Early Learning
Notre Dame Urban Education Center offers an early learning program for children who turn 4 years old by August 1st, and are potty trained. NDUEC’s goal is to prepare children for Kindergarten.
The Early Learning program boosts school readiness by introducing letters and words, math concepts, and valuable social skills. Children will be more prepared for Kindergarten with our small-group instruction, independent play in an organized and safe atmosphere, and whole-group activities. This program engages children in:
- whole-group instruction
- small group activities that provide skill-based learning
- math & literacy-building
- child-directed play in learning centers
- reflection of daily experience
The maximum class size is 12 students. If maximum enrollment is reached, a waitlist will be created.

Early Learning Partnership
Read, Ready, Covington is a city-wide early literacy initiative that helps families, caregivers, and educators prepare our youngest readers to become future leaders. By using free access to learning applications such as Footsteps2Brilliance® and Clever Kids University, as well as other educational resources throughout the city, the shared goal creates an environment for lifelong learning in Covington that’s collaborative, comfortable, and fun.
The Center’s literacy curriculum is enhanced through our partnership with Read, Ready Covington, and our students using the free apps. Our Early Learning teacher can monitor each child’s progress throughout the year.
